History!! :)
These giant creatures are very big. Due to there massive but gentle personality, they are very popular now-a-days. They were originally bred in the 16th century somewhere around the city of Ghent in Belgium. The first standards for this rabbit were written in 1893. The flemish giant is an ancestor of many rabbits around the world including the Belgian Hare, who was sent to England in the mid 19th century. The Flemish rabbit was sent to America from England and Belgium in the early 1890's where they were then to help improve the size of rabbits for consuming during the "rabbit boom." Until 1910 it was given very little attention. At 1910, they began to appear at small livestock shows throughout the country. These loving creatures promoted the National Federation of Giant Flemish Rabbit Breeders which was assembled in 1915. Currently, the Flemish Giant is a very popular breed of rabbit and thrives with human love.
